imbabwe's Andriata Chironda was an easy winner at the Miss AfricaCanada beauty pageant tonight (Oct. 31).
Chironda, a historian and activist, was reportedly one of the early favourites for the crown, held at York University.
The Toronto resident is the first Zimbabwean to walk away winner at the annual pagent dubbed "Africa's heritage night". Rejoice Choto was runner up in 2005.
Previous winners include Ghana's Helena Obeng (2008) and Sierra Leone's Zainab Godwin (2007).
Writing before her triumph she said "getting on that team (school quiz team) and not soiling my undergarments in trepidation was probably my biggest achievement to date.”
Our congratulations to Miss Chironda!!
